The Review
Location Catering, located on Railway Street just off Scotswood Road in Newcastle, delivers proper old-school comfort food with solid portions and honest value. I tried three different dishes to get a real feel for what they offer, and overall it’s a strong local spot if you’re after filling, no-nonsense scran.
I started with the Full English Breakfast, which was exactly what you’d want from a classic breakfast — generous portions, everything cooked properly, and the kind of meal that sets you up for the day. Nothing overcomplicated, just reliable, hearty food done right. I rated it 8/10.
Next up was the Chicken Curry with boiled rice. While the portion was decent and it was enjoyable enough, it lacked the spice and kick I personally look for in a curry. It was still a solid meal, but I felt it could have done with more flavour to really stand out. For me, this came in at 7/10.
The standout dish was definitely the Steak Stew with vegetables and a huge dumpling. This was proper comfort food — rich, filling, packed with flavour, and the dumpling was an absolute highlight. Portion size was excellent, making it great value for money and easily one of the better dishes on the menu. This scored 8/10.
⭐️ Average Score: 7.7/10 ⭐️
Overall, Location Catering is well worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for traditional, hearty food that delivers on portion size and value. It’s not about fancy presentation — it’s about proper satisfying meals, and for that, it absolutely does the job. Solid local scran with something for everyone.
